Everyone knows by now that sweets and stuffed biscuits contain a lot of calories. But what many people do not know is that products that at first glance do not seem harmful can still cause many unwanted pounds!
The number of calories of a product indicates how much energy that product delivers. The more energy you get, the more you have to burn to keep your energy balance the same. If you consume more energy than you consume, you can arrive. Sounds simple right? Although I am not in favor of counting calories endlessly, I think you should be aware that some products contain more calories than you think.
The sandwich 'healthy'
A healthy sandwich sounds very healthy, but unfortunately it is not. You probably will not expect it but a sandwich healthy as we know it with butter, ham, cheese, egg, raw vegetables and a big doll of mayonnaise contains no less than 430 kilocalories (kcal)! If you only eat this sandwich 'healthy', you already have a lot of fat left for the rest of the day and then dinner has to come. Do you still want to eat a sandwich healthy? Then leave the mayonnaise, do not use a thick layer of butter and choose a low-fat type of cheese. Then this sandwich is already a lot healthier.
stroopwafels
You know it, you walk on the market and suddenly such a delicious stroopwafel smell passes by. It looks like they're blowing your way! Your stomach is rumbling and you have a terrible appetite for such a delicious super-sized stroopwafel. Make no mistake, a cream butter syrup waffle easily contains more than 200 kcal. This is the same as about two wholemeal sandwiches.
Salads with dressing
Many people make the mistake of thinking that all salads are super healthy. It is true, in a salad often many vegetables and that makes a salad often very lean and healthy. There are only a few dressings that are incredibly fat and so a salad can contain quite a lot of calories. Season your salad with a dash of oil, vinegar, salt and pepper and possibly some mustard!
Liga Milkbreak
These cookies are often in advertising and are regularly given to the children to school. They are therefore labeled as healthy snacks. In advertisements it is stated that they are full of calcium and that these are therefore good for the growth of a child. But a League soon contains 90 kcal and a lot of fat. Because they are packaged in pairs, children receive 180 kcal by eating two cookies. The calcium in these cookies is so incredibly little that it is actually negligible! Especially against the amount of fat and added sugars what is in return. These two small cookies are equivalent to about four (!) Apples. A healthy apple and a cup of semi-skimmed milk to school is therefore a better choice: more calcium, less fat, less sugar and not even more appetite!
Mmmm pizza!
I was also sometimes tempted to easily put such a pizza from the freezer in the oven. Tasty down on the couch and fifteen minutes later there is a pizza on the table. When the numbers on my screen appeared how much kcal and fat there is in a frozen pizza, I almost fell off my desk chair.
But do not worry, there are also ways you can (occasionally!) Eat a pizza that contains less kcal. Remember at least that frozen pizzas contain more kcal than a freshly made pizza, this is mainly due to a higher fat content and the use of imitation cheese. In addition, if you make the pizza yourself, you have control over what you do on it. For comparison: the AH pizza Hawaii contains 890 kcal and the homemade fresh pizza Hawaii (soil, tomato paste, mozzarella, ham and pineapple) contains 635 kcal!
Some tips when making a pizza yourself:
Use wholegrain or spelled pizza dough (available at health food stores)
Do not sprinkle too much cheese over your pizza; this is often what makes the pizza very greasy
Use fish instead of fatty meats
Use a lot of fresh vegetables and herbs
Do not make the pizza too big, and make a fresh salad next to it
