You have to diet THIS for a long time to lose weight

Anyone trying to lose weight has this one question: how long should I follow a diet? The good news is that science finally has the answer to this long-considered question. A recent study published in the International Journal of Obesity reveals the exact length of time that someone needs to go on a diet to lose weight and stay off.

The study
Researchers from the University of Copenhagen studied the impact of weight loss on our bodies for two years. The researchers found that problems with most diets is that they cause a wave of hormones that aggravate hunger.

Sometimes the feeling of hunger can be so strong that they feel that if they don't eat, they will die. But when these hunger hormones tempt you to eat unhealthy foods, this demands your weight loss plan. To help use this problem, researchers put eight obese people on a strict low-calorie diet for eight weeks followed by a 12-month maintenance program. During the 12-month weight management program, the participants met regularly with the dietitians and received tips on lifestyle changes and the dietary calendar.

Results
The team of researchers collected blood samples from the participants three times during the entire program - before starting the program, after eight weeks of diets and after a 12-month maintenance period.

In general, participants lost on average 13 percent of their body weight. But the best part was that the blood samples taken after the 12 months showed that participants produced less hunger-producing hormone ghrelin and more of a hunger-suppressing hormone GLP-1.

Other studies
Many studies show that when you lose a lot of weight, your body fights violently against it. But it turned out that if you can keep your weight low for a year, you can easily keep it.
Verdict
A year of dieting means that your body can get used to the new weight and the new lifestyle, so that you stop craving, lose weight and maintain it.
